Dr. John Berardi being interviewed on the Fanny Kiefer Show (Vancouver, BC).  I often mention following the 10% rule or Berardi's 10% rule (eat clean 90% of the time and 10% of the time eat what you want).  If you have ever wondered who Berardi is, here is your chance to be enlightened.  In the first video, he talks alot about metabolism, nutrition and the benefits of strength training at any age.  (Even mentions 90+ year olds who have been able to turn back the clock).   In the second video he is spending more time talking about his cookbook, Gourmet Nutrition, and sharing some recipes and ideas with the host.  I have this cookbook and it is wonderful.

Dr. Berardi is a nutrition/performance expert, author of The Metabolism Advantage, Gourment Nutrition and Precision Nutrition.   He co-authored Scrawny to Brawny and The Grappler's Guide to Sports Nutrition.

He has published numerous magazine articles in publications like Clean Eating and Inside Fitness.

Currently, Dr. Berardi is the director of performance nutrition for the Canadian National Cross Country Skiing, Alpine Skiing, Canoe/Kayak and Bobsleigh/Skeleton teams and is a performance nutrition consultant to a number of elite level individual athletes, sports teams, and Olympic training centres including:

* The Toronto Maple Leafs
* The Canadian National Speed Skating Team
* The Calgary Sports Centre/Olympic Oval (Calgary, Alberta)
* The Manitoba Sports Centre (Winnipeg, Manitoba)
* The University of Texas Women's Track and Field Team
* Individual athletes in nearly every sport including professional football (NFL and CFL), professional hockey (NHL and AHL), professional baseball (MLB), professional basketball (NBA) and more.

Dr. Berardi is also a member of the board of directors for the International Youth Conditioning Association, the premier international authority with respect to athletic development and young athlete-based conditioning.

He is also the trainer for Siren, one of the gladiators on American Gladiator.

The great thing about Berardi is that he is an advocate of EATING and eating well.  If you are an athletic woman, you can eat 2400 - 2800 calories a day of good, clean foods and not gain an ounce.  It's all about timing...carbs after a workout, lower carbs when you're not working out.  You take advantage of your metabolism and in turn can enjoy delicious food.
